SmartTrade is New Zealand's premier business-to-business loyalty programme run by Smart Trade International Ltd. The programme can be joined as a participating business or trade customer (click here to apply).
This section contains answers for frequently asked questions on joining, earning points and purchasing rewards.

How do I become a member in the SmartTrade programme?
When you open an account with a participating SmartTrade business, they will add you to the programme to earn points. Alternatively, you can visit our Join Us, page and fill out the enquiry form and list all of the participating businesses you currently trade with (click here to view over 300 participating suppliers). You will be notified of your membership with an introduction pack which you will receive in the mail.
What does it cost me to become a member?
Absolutely nothing! The SmartTrade participating business you are trading with rewards you for simply purchasing from them and paying your account on time.
How many other SmartTrade participating businesses can I get reward points from?
There’s no limit! You can earn points from multiple businesses with all points being pooled into one account. The more businesses you trade with, the faster your points balance will grow! Click here to see a list of participating businesses.
If I deal with some of the other SmartTrade participating businesses in the programme, can I get reward points from them as well?
Yes! You can contact the participating business and ask them to start rewarding you for your spend or send an enquiry email online. It is important to remember that it is up to the participating business to include you in the programme.
How do I know how many points I have got?
There are lots of ways in which you can find out your points balance:
- We will mail you a point’s statement in June and November along with your rewards catalogue.
- We will email a point’s summary in March and September.
- You can check anytime online by downloading the SmartTrade app. Search 'SmartTrade' in the App Store on Google Play to download, or click here.
- Call 0800 99 76278 and talk to one of our customer service representatives.
Why haven't I received a Points Statement?
We may not have the correct mailing address or email address for you. Please log into the SmartTrade app and check your details are correct or, call the customer experience team on 0800 99 76278 and they will help update your details.
How long after purchasing goods and services from a participating business will I see the points appear on my account?
It is a 3 month process. For example if you purchased in April and paid your account on time in May, you will receive your points in June.
Do my SmartTrade points ever expire?
Points expire 3 years after the date they were issued. You will be notified in advance, via your points statement, of the points that risk expiry.
How long will it take me to collect enough points for a reward?
The more participating businesses you earn points from the faster you will get rewards! Rewards start at low points values and go right through to those big-ticket items. We want to make it easy for you to get just what you want no matter what sized business you are.
How do I redeem my points?
The easiest way to get your reward is to log in to the website with your email address and password to redeem one or more of the thousands of rewards online. Alternatively, call 0800 99 76278 to talk to one of our customer service representatives.
Please note: any travel paid for with reward points must be booked through our call centre. We reserve the right to decline payment for any travel booked by other means. Flights are booked in association with House of Travel (call 0800 99 76278 or email rewards@smart-trade.co.nz).
Can I redeem points for an item not shown in your rewards catalogue or on the website?
With SmartTrade’s Dream Rewards you can request virtually any reward* you want. Simply call us and we'll do all we can to deliver exactly what you've been dreaming of! Whether you want to use your points to pay for a holiday, a fishing trip, or a diamond ring, we'll get it for you*!
Please note: there are some criteria that your dream reward needs to fit into so once you know what you’re interested in give our reward specialists a call with the details and we’ll contact the supplier to arrange the transaction.
If I don’t have enough points to redeem a particular reward can I top up with money?
Yes, you can use our Points + Pay facility to purchase rewards, with the option of paying by credit card (Visa and Mastercard accepted only) or direct debit.
How long does it take for my reward to arrive?
Rewards are couriered directly to you. The standard delivery time is 10-15 working days. If you do not receive your reward within this timeframe please call us on 0800 99 76278.
What do I do if my reward is faulty, damaged or if I receive the wrong one?
All rewards come with a standard manufacturer’s warranty. Please notify SmartTrade immediately and we will organise with the supplier what to do next.
